San Diego headquartered microchip giant Qualcomm Inc. recently reported its quarterly sales and results out on April 20, 2016 that went past the expectations of The Wall Street Exchange. The company credited its strong results across the entire chipset business to resolving an issue over licensing terms with South Korea’s LG Electronics Inc. The firm also said that its fiscal second quarter results were also boosted by new license agreements in China including Hisense Group Co. Ltd.
The deal with Hisense Group grants Hisense a royalty-bearing patent license to develop, manufacture and sell 3G WCDMA and CDMA2000 and 4G LTE terminals for use in China. The royalties payable by Hisense are consistent with the terms of the rectification plan submitted by Qualcomm to China’s National Development and Reform Commission, Qualcomm said.
